[TV Review] Pro – 3.16.91

The Young Pistols take on The State Patrol in this week’s “Featured Match” on Pro. Also on the show the feud between Ron Simmons and Butch Reed continues to boil, Brian Pillman gets one over on Sid Vicious, and The Steiner Brothers perform a little manscaping on their opponents. Man, Chicago got the good stuff when it came to syndicated WCW shows, huh?

[PPV Review] WrestleWar 1991: War Games – 2.24.91

Venue: Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum (Phoenix, AZ)
Commentators: Jim Ross & Dusty Rhodes

The first PPV for WCW in 1991 features one of the company’s notorious matches, as Sting teams with Brian Pillman and The Steiner Brothers to take on The Four Horsemen in War Games. Also on the show we get our FIFTH Z-Man/Terry Taylor match as the two meet in a No-DQ contest, the WCW Six Man Tag Team Championship gets defended for the first time, and Lex Luger defends the United States Championship against ‘Dangerous’ Dan Spivey. After a month of TV matches I am ready for some actual competitive contests so let’s dive right the hell in.

[TV Review] Main Event – 2.17.91

Commentators: Jim Ross & Missy Hyatt

The Z-Man and Terry Taylor wrestle each other for the third week in a row, Bobby Eaton takes too long to beat a jobber with a goofy mustache, and Jim Ross can’t hide his disgust with co-host Missy Hyatt very well. There’s a PPV next weekend to sort-of promote to, and sort-of promote it they do!

The Lineup

  • El Gigante vs. Bill Ford
  • Brad Armstrong vs. Rip Rogers
  • Bobby Eaton vs. Rob Morgan
  • Doom vs. Scott Allen & Carl Robertson
  • In-Ring Segment: The Danger Zone
  • Tom Zenk vs. Terry Taylor

[TV Review] World Championship Wrestling – 2.16.91

Commentators: Jim Ross & Paul E. Dangerously

This week there’s a rematch from Dixie DynamiteBig Josh makes his surprise debut, the future Johnny B. Badd is here with a horrible mispelling of his real name, and I fall in love with a tag team that just isn’t meant to be. Oh and El Gigante wants the belt.

  • The Steiner Brothers vs. Ron Cumberlidge & Bill Baker
  • Segment: Wrestling Wrap-Up w/ Gordon Solie
  • Dan Spivey vs. Chris Hann

[TV Review] Pro – 2.16.91

Commentators: Tony Schiavone & Larry Zbyszko

The Ric Flair/El Gigante feud continues, Dustin Rhodes makes his WCW in-ring debut, and Sid Vicious destroys a jobber with a very 80s teen movie villain name. Fun episode of Pro is what I’m saying.

The Lineup

  • Sting & Lex Luger vs. Magnum Force
  • Tom Zenk vs. Lt. James Earl Wright
  • Footage: Riki Choshu [c] vs. Tatsumi Fujinami for IWGP Championship (Tokyo, Japan)
  • The Royal Family vs. Dave Johnson & John Peterson
  • Sid Vicious vs. Thad Clark
  • In-Ring Segment: The Danger Zone w/ Paul E. Dangerously
  • Dustin Rhodes vs. Joe Cruz
  • El Gigante vs. Barry Windham
