[TV Review] World Championship Wrestling – 3.2.91

Commentators: Jim Ross & Paul E. Dangerously

World Championship Wrestling this week features championship action, as The Fabulous Freebirds defend the Tag Team Titles against The Lightning Express. A whole lot of other folks are in action as well, and Magnum Force technically main events WCW’s flagship show so I’d call this a win overall! Helluva return after a two-year hiatus that was totally on purpose and not because I lost my external hard drive and was too lazy to look for it.

[TV Review] Pro – 2.16.91

Commentators: Tony Schiavone & Larry Zbyszko

The Ric Flair/El Gigante feud continues, Dustin Rhodes makes his WCW in-ring debut, and Sid Vicious destroys a jobber with a very 80s teen movie villain name. Fun episode of Pro is what I’m saying.

  • Footage: Riki Choshu [c] vs. Tatsumi Fujinami for IWGP Championship (Tokyo, Japan)

[TV Review] Pro – 2.2.91

Commentators: Tony Schiavone & Larry Zbyszko

Ricky Morton & Tommy Rich get another crack at Arn Anderson & Barry Windham in the main event of this week’s Pro, plus Sid Vicious puts another jobber in the hospital, Michael Wallstreet is still around for some reason despite no longer being with the company, and we get to see more of the big Sting/Ric Flair match that happened at the Meadowlands last month. Yes we’re still seeing footage from that show, deal with it.

The Lineup

  • Michael Wallstreet vs. Tim Parker
  • Clip: Sting (c) vs. Ric Flair for the WCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP (Meadowlands – 1.11.91)

[TV Review] Power Hour – 2.2.91

powerhour

Commentators: Jim Ross & Paul E. Dangerously

February begins with an episode of Power Hour that does more hype work for WrestleWar than last month’s entire TV slate did for Dixie Dynamite. Hilarious. In addition we get our first appearance of The Junkyard Dog in 1991, another Sid Vicious squash, and a main event that decides the #1 contender to Z-Man‘s Television Championship. It’s a match that already aired last week on a different show but now it actually makes some sense continuity-wise.

The Lineup

  • Tim Horner vs. Mike Samples
  • Ricky Morton & The Junkyard Dog vs. Mark Kyle & Joe Cazana
  • Wrestling News Network w/ Gordon Solie
  • Brian Pillman vs. John Peterson
  • Sid Vicious vs. Dave Johnson
  • Lex Luger vs. Magnum Force Speedy (Worldwide – 1.26.91)
  • #1 Contendership Match (TV Title): Bobby Eaton vs. Arn Anderson (Worldwide – 1.26.91)
